The Ypäjä Equestrian College and the Helsinki International Horse Show are continuing their long-standing partnership in connection with the Finnderby, one of the most traditional show jumping competitions in Finland. The Finnderby, presented by the Helsinki International Horse Show, will be held on Saturday, August 8, as part of the Hevosopisto Championship Weekend & Finnderby event.
Finnderby is one of Finland’s best-known and most prestigious show jumping competitions. Held on the grass-surfaced Derby course, the competition combines tradition, spectacular sportsmanship, and a unique derby atmosphere in a way that makes it special for both riders and spectators.
“Finnderby, along with the Helsinki International Horse Show, is one of Finland’s most traditional show jumping competitions. The competition has a long history, and it’s great that it has been revived after a few years’ hiatus. This year, the Finnderby will be held for the third time on the redesigned standard course created by course designer Johanna Mikkola, which honors the competition’s traditions while meeting the demands of today’s sport horses.
Finnderby, presented by the Helsinki International Horse Show, offers competitors a substantial prize pool, with the winner taking home 2,200 euros. Finnderby is part of Horse Show Derby Day , which will be held on Saturday, August 8. The day’s program also features the Pony Derby, the Finnish Horse Derby, the new Young Horse Derby, and the Junior Derby.
The Hevosopisto Championship Weekend & Finnderby will be held at the Ypäjä Equestrian College on August 6–9, 2026, when the Finnish show jumping championships in various age groups will also be decided.
