Denis Lynch, riding his horse Katja, rode to victory once again in Saturday’s 145 cm speed class presented by Turkish Airlines. Jone Illi continued his solid performance on his horse Caprivi 23 and finished fourth. Aida Hämäläinen, meanwhile, rode Hurby to an impressive eleventh-place finish.
Denis Lynch says the horse is always very competitive.
“A brisk pace suits him well, and the plan was to ride him according to his strengths from the very beginning—everything went according to plan.”
Lynch focuses on the things he can control: riding well and ensuring that his horse has the best possible conditions to succeed. He doesn’t put unnecessary pressure on himself about anything else.
The Helsinki competitions have received special praise for their organization and for the fantastic atmosphere. In tonight’s and tomorrow’s starts, Denis Lynch’s goal is once again to succeed and deliver the best possible performance with his horses.
Tonight, Lynch will compete on his young horse Chicago, who has already placed in a few Grand Prix classes and shows great promise.
Jone Illi, a familiar face to many Finns, and his horse Caprivi 23 performed admirably. Jone says that the horse felt really good, and they were able to pick up right where they left off yesterday—resulting in a fourth-place finish on both days.
“The atmosphere was confident and positive, and all the horses performed exceptionally well,” says Illi.
Jone Illi is also competing today in the first five-star Grand Prix of his career on his horse Celtas Quillian.
