Finnlines International 150 cm was a tight fight against the clock and the top three all fit within one second. Young Dutch talent, Mel Thijssen aboard Florida Balia NL, managed to deliver the winning performance in 57,21 seconds and beat the second placed Hans-Dieter Dreher with Jiniki from Germany. Paris silver medalist Steve Guerdat on Easy Star de Talma took the remaning spot in the top three.
Friday evening’s win was Thijssen’s biggest so far and the first on a five-star level.
“It felt really good today. My horse felt really good, she was very sharp and loves to speed – you can see it in the turns that she is really going forward.”
“We are jumping one more class together tomorrow, I’ll try to win that. And then I will also be jumping the World Cup.”
Dreher, who took the fifth place in FEI World Cup™ Finals in Riyadh in April 2024, continued his solid weekend in Helsinki and was happy with his performance on Friday evening.
“It was a really fast class – the jumps are coming really quick out of the turn. Our round was not so bad and my horse jumped amazing, I’m very happy with her. “
