Kent Farrington held the lead from start to finish in front of the home crowd in Fort Worth, Texas, despite a knockdown in Sunday\u2019s first round. The victory was the 45-year-old\u2019s first; last year he finished fourth. It remains to be seen whether this win will also propel him to the top of the world rankings, ahead of Scott Brash. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cWinning the World Cup Finals means a lot to me because I grew up watching the finals. I didn\u2019t get to compete in the top-level events, but we had recordings of the World Cup Finals on videotape\u2014I got one every year,\u201d Kent says. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n

\u201cI watched them so many times that the tapes wore out, so being here now to win is really meaningful to me. I\u2019m extremely proud to have my name engraved on this trophy.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s important [to note] that I rode two horses here, both of which brought me victory. I couldn\u2019t have done this without Toulayna on the first day\u2014she won, too.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n

\u201cI have two exceptional mares, and thanks to them, I\u2019m here now winning this championship.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

Kent, who runs a training stable in Wellington, Florida, won two gold medals at the 2011 Pan American Games and a team silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. At the 2014 World Championships, Kent won a team bronze medal. <\/p>\n\n

Daniel Deusser and Otello de Guldenboom, Katie A. Dinan and Out of the Blue SCF, and Rene Dittmer and Cody 139, with one time penalty, moved ahead of Kevin Staut and Steve Guerdat, who had been eliminated. Richard Vogel Ganster on Montdesir, who also recorded a clear round and finished ninth, was named Sunday\u2019s class winner. <\/p>\n\n

Daniel won the final in 2014 and also made it to the podium in 2007 and 2016.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cMy expectations were high\u2014that\u2019s why I came here,\u201d said Deusser.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n

\u201cI got off to a great start on the first day, but on the second day I fell a little behind the leaders because of a fall. Today, I have to say that Otello de Guldenboom gave it his all. He really gave it his all, and I have to say I\u2019m very proud of him.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

For 35-year-old Katie, this is her first podium finish of her career.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m speechless when it comes to my horse,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

\n

\u201cIt was absolutely incredible every single day\u2014it jumped flawlessly on Thursday, Friday, and in both rounds today. I owe it all to it.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

This 12-year-old offspring of Verdi TN was born, raised, and trained in the United States, which made the result even more meaningful for the rider.<\/p>\n\n

The Zen Elite FEI Dressage World Cup\u2122 Final was won by Britain\u2019s Becky Moody and Jagerbomb, who were competing in their first-ever final, with an impressive score of 88.330 percent. Christian Simonson of the United States and Indian Rock placed second (83.810%), and Poland\u2019s Sandra Sysojeva and Maxima Bella placed third (80.770%). Sweden\u2019s Patrik Kittel narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with Touchdown (80.260%). <\/p>\n\n
