Helsinki International Horse Show has been shortlisted as a finalist for the third time this year thanks to its sustainability program. This time the international Sports Business Awards has shortlisted the International Equestrian Federation FEI along with Helsinki Horse Show and Fortum HorsePower as a finalist for the ’Sustainability in Sport Award. ’The new ’Sustainability in Sport Award’ category has been created to recognise sporting organisations which are placing sustainability at the heart of their objectives and engagement.

The FEI, Helsinki Horse Show and Fortum HorsePower are in exceptional company, since the other finalists are Arsenal Football Club, Formula E, The Football Association, SAILGP – Powered by NatureTM ja World Sailing. The winner will be announced in December in London.

This is a huge success for our efforts on making equestrian events more sustainable, says Tom Gordin, Event Director of the Helsinki Event. The core of our activities lies in the Fortum HorsePower manure innovation, where the ”athletes”, i.e the horses, produce the manure to be transformed into electricity for the Event. Our vision is to be the leading equestrian event on sustainability, and probably we are already, continues Tom Gordin.

Earlier this year Sponsorointi & Tapahtumat ry awarded Helsinki Horse Show with the ’International Execution of the Year’ award and additionally Horse Show received an honorary award in the ’Event of the Year’ category.  Furthermore Fortum HorsePower, Helsinki Horse Show’s partner, received the ’Sport Sponsor of the Year’ award. In addition Evento Awards has shortlisted Helsinki Horse Show as one of the three finalists in a ’Consumer Event’ category. The winner will be announced in August.
